Rachel Aaronson is in her final year of the Master of Landscape Architecture degree at the University of Pennsylvania. Through her design work, she hopes to explore the intersection of landscape and waste. As cities grow, there is a need for sustainable and innovative solutions that prevent waste from entering and polluting the environment while also adding to creative design. These can be designed in ways that invite people, reduce their impact, and engage them creatively with the living and non-living landscape.
This summer Rachel is working with the McHarg Center and the campus landscape architects on the Campus as a Living Lab project. She will help figure out details of expanding the tree canopy on campus using a glass sand planting mix.
