Annie Parker

Annie Parker is in her final year of the dual-Master’s program in Landscape Architecture and City Planning at the University of Pennsylvania. With a background in transportation and housing planning for 2 years, she came to UPenn to deepen her skills in community engagement and translation of ideas, memory, and re-interpretations of history into spatial design. Since beginning graduate school, she has worked on the Legacy of 87 Adams project, which seeks to memorialize the thousands of enslaved people bought and sold outside the Memphis church where she grew up, securing support from Monument Lab and advising the design process. Her work centers on spaces of racial justice and reconciliation, as she learns to use design as a tool to confront America’s history of racial injustice. Annie has spent the past year as a Landscape Architecture Intern at MASS Design Group, where she has contributed to the firm’s mission of designing to heal, working on a range of memorial, park, and campus designs for clients in the US and in Africa. Outside of class, Annie enjoys baking, yoga, and goofing around with her friends and family.
