Liz VanDerwerken is a student in the Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of City Planning programs at the University of Pennsylvania. She is interested in issues of materiality, environmental justice, and how political and social processes are implicated in urban and landscape architectural design. Liz is also drawn toward creating projects with thoughtful planting design and landscape projects that incorporate cultural, social, and political histories through design. Field work is also an important and generative part of her design practice. She loves reading, writing, visiting botanical gardens, and hiking whenever she is spending time outside of studio.
